Terms of Service
Version: v1.0 Effective date: 2026-05-02 Last updated: 2026-05-02
These Terms of Service ("Terms") govern your use of the CrossRoads Missions mobile application (iOS and Android) and the websites at https://crossroadsmissions.com and https://crossroadsmissions.app (together, the "Services"), operated by CrossRoads Missions ("CrossRoads," "we," "us," or "our"), a Kentucky-based 501(c)(3) faith-based missions organization.
By using the Services you agree to these Terms. If you do not agree, do not use the Services.
If you have questions about these Terms, contact us at info@crossroadsmissions.app.
1. Quick summary
- The Services are a private community tool for CrossRoads Missions trip participants and field super-users.
- You must be 13 or older to use the Services. 13–17 users require parental or guardian consent.
- You are responsible for the content you submit (photos, videos, text, comments, stories).
- By submitting content, you grant CrossRoads a broad license to use that content in connection with our nonprofit mission. See section 8 — Likeness and content license. This is the most important section of these Terms; please read it carefully.
- Don't harass, don't impersonate, don't upload illegal content, don't use the app for commercial purposes without permission.
- We may suspend or terminate accounts that violate these Terms.
2. Eligibility
You must be at least 13 years old to use the Services. If you are 13–17, you may use the Services only after a parent or legal guardian has provided consent through the in-app parental-consent flow. If you are under 13, you may not use the Services. If we discover that a user is under 13, we will delete the account within seconds (see our Privacy Policy, section 4).
You also represent that:
- You have the legal capacity to enter into these Terms (or your parent or guardian has agreed on your behalf, if you are 13–17).
- You are not barred from using the Services under the laws of the United States or your country of residence.
- The information you provide to us is accurate and complete.
3. Your account
When you sign in, an account is created for you. You are responsible for keeping your sign-in credentials secure. Do not share your magic-link emails. Notify us at info@crossroadsmissions.app if you suspect unauthorized access to your account.
You may delete your account at any time by emailing info@crossroadsmissions.app. We will process the deletion within 30 days; backup snapshots may persist for up to 30 additional days before they are overwritten.
4. The Services — what they do, what they do not do
The Services help mission-trip participants:
- Receive trip schedules from trip leaders.
- Submit stories (photos, videos, text) from the field for the trip leader to review.
- Participate in field-specific content like devotionals, language helps, and announcements.
- Make donations (in a future release) to support CrossRoads or specific trips.
The Services do not provide two-way chat, peer-to-peer messaging, or any direct social-network features. Field leaders broadcast to participants; participants do not broadcast to one another.
The Services are provided as is, without warranty. Connectivity is unreliable on remote field sites; we have designed the app to work briefly offline, but we do not guarantee that any specific message, content, or schedule update will be delivered or persisted within a particular timeframe.
5. Acceptable use
You agree NOT to:
- Harass, threaten, defame, or impersonate any person.
- Upload or share content that is illegal, violent, sexually explicit, hateful, or that promotes self-harm.
- Upload child sexual abuse material (CSAM). We will report any such material to the National Center for Missing and Exploited Children (NCMEC) and law enforcement immediately.
- Spam, phish, or run unsolicited promotional campaigns through the Services.
- Use the Services to operate a competing product, scrape content, or train machine-learning models on user-submitted content without our prior written consent.
- Use the Services for commercial purposes other than CrossRoads-sanctioned activities.
- Reverse-engineer, decompile, or attempt to extract the source code of the Services, except as permitted by applicable law.
- Interfere with the Services' security, availability, or integrity (no DDoS, no probing, no exploitation of vulnerabilities except through coordinated disclosure to info@crossroadsmissions.app).
- Misrepresent your identity, your age, or your relationship to a participant (for example, claiming to be a parent when you are not).
6. User-submitted content — moderation
Photos, videos, text, and other content you submit through the Services ("User Content") are reviewed by a field super-user before they are visible to other participants or before they are featured by CrossRoads in public communications. Field super-users may decline to publish your content for any reason consistent with these Terms. Submitting content does not guarantee it will be displayed.
You are solely responsible for the User Content you submit. You represent and warrant that:
- You created the User Content yourself, or you have permission from the rights-holders to submit it.
- The User Content does not infringe any third party's intellectual-property rights, privacy rights, publicity rights, or contractual rights.
- The User Content does not violate any law or regulation.
- If the User Content includes other identifiable people, you have obtained their consent (and the consent of their parent or guardian, if they are minors) to capture and submit their image, voice, or likeness.
7. Account suspension and termination
We may suspend or terminate your account if you violate these Terms, if continued use creates risk for other users or for CrossRoads, or if we are required to do so by law. Where practical, we will give you notice and an opportunity to remedy the issue before terminating your account.
You may terminate your account at any time by emailing info@crossroadsmissions.app. Termination does not cancel any donations you have already made or refund any contributions; donations are non-refundable once processed (see our donations addendum if and when donations ship).
Upon termination:
- Your profile is deleted.
- Your trip enrollment rows are deleted.
- Your parental-consent records are deleted.
- The license you granted in section 8 (Likeness and content license) continues to apply to any User Content you submitted before termination.
8. Likeness and content license
This section is the most important part of these Terms for participants who submit photos, videos, text, audio, or other content through the Services.
By submitting any photo, video, text, audio, or other content (collectively, "User Content") via CrossRoads Missions, you grant CrossRoads Missions a worldwide, royalty-free, non-exclusive, sublicensable, perpetual, irrevocable license to use, reproduce, modify, adapt, translate, publish, distribute, publicly perform, and publicly display the User Content, in whole or in part, for purposes related to CrossRoads Missions' nonprofit mission, including but not limited to:
- Marketing and promotion of mission trips and field activities across CrossRoads' websites, social media, donor newsletters, printed materials, and event presentations.
- Fundraising and donor communications, including donor-targeted emails, donor reports, donor testimonials, and donor-recognition materials.
- Grant reporting to foundations, corporate funders, government agencies, and other grantors.
- Storytelling about the mission, including but not limited to videos, photo galleries, written testimonials, podcasts, and presentations to churches, schools, and community groups.
The license also extends to your name, likeness, voice, and any identifying details that appear in the User Content, for the same purposes. You acknowledge that the User Content may capture your image, voice, or likeness, and you grant CrossRoads the right to use that likeness in the contexts above.
You waive any right to inspect or approve the finished products before CrossRoads uses them, and you waive any claim for compensation arising from CrossRoads' use of the User Content under this license.
This license survives termination of your account. If you remove your User Content from the Services after CrossRoads has already used it externally (for example, in a printed donor brochure), you understand that CrossRoads cannot retract the external use.
If you submit User Content that depicts other identifiable people, you represent that you have obtained their consent (and the consent of their parent or guardian, if they are minors) to capture and submit their likeness on the same terms.
If you object to any specific use of your User Content, contact us at info@crossroadsmissions.app and we will work with you in good faith to resolve the issue, but you understand that the broad license you granted at the time of submission applies.
9. Donations (placeholder for a future release)
When in-app donations ship in a future release, an addendum will be added to these Terms describing the donation process, payment processor, refund policy, and tax-deductibility. Donations are not currently available in the Services.
10. Our intellectual property
The Services, including the CrossRoads name, logo, trademarks, app design, source code, copy, and documentation, are owned by CrossRoads Missions or its licensors and are protected by copyright, trademark, and other intellectual-property laws. You may not copy, modify, distribute, sell, or create derivative works of any part of the Services except as expressly permitted by these Terms or by applicable law.
11. Third-party services
The Services integrate with third-party services (Apple App Store, Google Play, Supabase, Sentry, PostHog, Vimeo, YouTube, Resend, Stripe in a future release). Your use of those services is governed by their own terms and privacy policies. CrossRoads is not responsible for the practices of those third parties.
12. Disclaimers
THE SERVICES ARE PROVIDED "AS IS" AND "AS AVAILABLE." TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CROSSROADS MISSIONS DISCLAIMS ALL WARRANTIES, EXPRESS OR IMPLIED, INCLUDING WITHOUT LIMITATION THE IMPLIED WARRANTIES OF MERCHANTABILITY, FITNESS FOR A PARTICULAR PURPOSE, NON-INFRINGEMENT, AND ANY WARRANTIES ARISING FROM COURSE OF DEALING OR USAGE OF TRADE.
CROSSROADS MISSIONS DOES NOT WARRANT THAT THE SERVICES WILL BE UNINTERRUPTED, ERROR-FREE, OR FREE OF HARMFUL COMPONENTS, OR THAT ANY CONTENT WILL BE ACCURATE OR RELIABLE. YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES IS AT YOUR OWN RISK.
13. Limitation of liability
TO THE FULLEST EXTENT PERMITTED BY APPLICABLE LAW, CROSSROADS MISSIONS, ITS DIRECTORS, OFFICERS, EMPLOYEES, VOLUNTEERS, AND AFFILIATES WILL NOT BE LIABLE FOR ANY INDIRECT, INCIDENTAL, SPECIAL, CONSEQUENTIAL, OR PUNITIVE DAMAGES, OR FOR ANY LOSS OF PROFITS, REVENUE, DATA, OR GOODWILL, ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES, WHETHER BASED ON WARRANTY, CONTRACT, TORT (INCLUDING NEGLIGENCE), STATUTE, OR ANY OTHER LEGAL THEORY, AND WHETHER OR NOT WE HAVE BEEN INFORMED OF THE POSSIBILITY OF SUCH DAMAGE.
IN NO EVENT WILL CROSSROADS MISSIONS' TOTAL LIABILITY ARISING OUT OF OR IN CONNECTION WITH THESE TERMS OR YOUR USE OF THE SERVICES EXCEED ONE HUNDRED U.S. DOLLARS (US$100.00) OR THE AMOUNT YOU PAID TO CROSSROADS IN THE TWELVE (12) MONTHS PRECEDING THE EVENT GIVING RISE TO THE LIABILITY, WHICHEVER IS GREATER.
Some jurisdictions do not allow the limitation or exclusion of liability for incidental or consequential damages; in those jurisdictions our liability is limited to the smallest extent permitted by law.
14. Indemnification
You agree to defend, indemnify, and hold harmless CrossRoads Missions, its directors, officers, employees, volunteers, and affiliates from and against any claims, liabilities, damages, losses, and expenses (including reasonable attorney's fees) arising out of or in connection with: (a) your use of the Services in violation of these Terms; (b) your User Content; or (c) your violation of any law or third-party right.
15. Governing law and dispute resolution
These Terms are governed by the laws of the Commonwealth of Kentucky, United States, without regard to conflict-of-laws principles. Any dispute arising out of or relating to these Terms or the Services will be resolved exclusively in the state or federal courts located in Louisville, Kentucky, and you consent to the personal jurisdiction of those courts.
16. Changes to these Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will update the "Last updated" date at the top of the document and post the new version at https://crossroadsmissions.com/terms. If the change is material, we will notify you in the app the next time you open it and require you to re-accept the new version before continuing to use the Services.
17. Miscellaneous
- Severability: If any provision of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, the remaining provisions will remain in full force and effect.
- No waiver: Our failure to enforce any provision is not a waiver of that provision.
- Assignment: You may not assign your rights under these Terms. We may assign our rights and obligations to a successor in interest.
- Entire agreement: These Terms, together with the Privacy Policy, constitute the entire agreement between you and CrossRoads regarding the Services.
